Great sprinkler head for a large yard
I have a large yard. I get tired of moving the sprinkler around multiple times to water my grass. But this sprinkler head, which can water out to a 40 foot diameter, makes watering my yard much easier. I've mounted this on an Orbit tripod. It's reduced the number of sprinklers by about 75%. It is durable, works well, and as long as it is maintained, it continues to function properly. Some reviews have stated that sprinkler head stops functioning or oscillating properly. If you use the sprinkler a lot, especially in an environment such as mine with hard well water, minerals and other stuff can build up on the head and it will stop oscillating. However, I found that if you clean it and spray it with a little WD-40 it works just perfectly. It also needs to be stored inside during the winter. This is a great sprinkler head if you do need to get some distance.

Twice the Water in Half the Time!
Bought this 3/4" RainBird sprinkler to replace a big box store standard 1/2" impulse sprinkler. That 1/2" cheap sprinkler took 2hrs. to give me 1 inch of water, the 3/4" RainBird hooked to the same 3/4" hose only takes 1hr. To put out that same 1" of water. This was checked using 3 butter cup containers all the same in 3 places along the watering path & the amount in each averaged out. But once sprinkler set they are all very close to each other, nice even spray pattern. Saves a lot of lawn watering time! Love this sprinkler!

Very sturdy metal sprinkler that works well
I read several negative reviews of this item so when I ordered it I wasn't sure what to expect. I will tell you though that in my experience this is a quality product that I am very happy with. First, it isn't easy to find an impact sprinkler like this which connects to a hose. There are some out there but most are plastic pieces of junk that won't last very long. This is a sturdy and high quality metal which seems very rugged and should last for many uses. Second, I read a lot of complaints about the settings of the sprinkler and what it supposedly could or could not do. I will tell you that it is highly adjustable if you know what you are doing. You can set the distance and pattern with a little trial and error. There are no directions but it isn't really all that complicated. Third, I read a lot of complaints about not working well with low pressure. I am on a water well and pressure is never terribly high but it functions well for me. I would note, however, that when pressure drops sometimes it stops rotating because it does rely on a certain level of pressure to function properly. How much is enough? I can't say for certain but on a regular city water supply delivering normal pressure you would be more than fine. On a water well like I am it is still fine most of the time, but could be an issue if your pressure is too low. This is no different than pretty much any other sprinkler though so if its an issue with other sprinklers it probably is with this one as well. As a final note I would just say that I am very happy with this sprinkler head. It is every bit as good as permanent sprinkler heads like you find in an underground sprinkler system but can be moved wherever you want it. It is also very sturdy and can be adjusted to deliver water anywhere you want it.

Just can't beat the time tested design of these sprinklers
Top quality product which has worked flawlessly since I got it. I do want to clarify that the photo of the item is that of the 25 model and not 35. The 35 model has a rounded "spoon" style pivoting mechanism vs the square top, bottom, sides style seen in the photo. Other than that the OEM plastic bag wrapper for the item was dirty, little tattered, and some areas of the printing were worn away even though the bag hadn't been opened. Copyright date on the bag was 2007 so I'm guessing the item may have been in a bin for some time; but I've usually found older products to have been better made than newer ones. One other note: I also have some of the plastic construction impact sprinklers from Rainbird and thought it was odd they seemed to work really fast. This model and the 25 version are the slower operating ones you often see used in orchards and vineyards. Evidently the plastic versions, with their lighter mass, just react a lot faster. So, if you like the slow, very pleasing, lazy day sound you'll want the metal impact sprinklers. I wouldn't hesitate a minute to buy another one of these.

I'll never buy the cheap ones again!!
These are great! Even work well with our hard water. Best of all, the metal footing is SOLID and does not bend. You know the one's that do: the ones you can get at the big box stores and are plastic with a thin metal stake. Those are a waste of money in comparison with these. Again, solid foot and BRASS parts. The length of the spray can be adjusted from a jet-stream to a lighter watering by literally pushing a metal flap down onto the spray. This "breaks" the stream and allows for a more gentle watering. It's in the directions, too.

Easy to adjust and operate at modest pressure.
I purchased this sprinkler to see if it would work better than some 2" pop up sprinklers that I was using to water native grasses and flowers in the back part of my property. The pressure in my waterline was a little low so the pop-up sprinklers would frequently not fully extend, dumping water all around the base rather than spraying around the desired area. This impact sprinkler was much more effective, distributing water evening throughout the area even operating at a low pressure. I will buy three more and replace all the "pop-up" type sprinklers in the area. I found the impact sprinkler easy to adjust too, requiring no tools.

Best in its class
I've owned a lot of sprinklers, but only oscillating. I'll never buy another one. This impact sprinkler is a classic, simple design that's easy to adjust and puts down water much faster in comparison. No trouble getting the spike into the ground and the head puts out a good, reliable stream. I didn't initially return to this site to leave a review, but instead to buy another one. Nicely done Rain Bird!

Take it from me - I've tried them all
OK, so I had my entire yard (very large) overseeded this fall, and I began to pull out and deploy the various sprinklers I've collected over the years. My main sprinkler was a 3 foot tripod with an orbit sprinkler head, 1/2 inch impact. After much fiddling, I could never get it to recirculate, so I replaced the head with a Gilmour head that I had from another sprinkler. It worked fine, but the spray pattern and water delivery was definitely not as robust as I needed. Knowing that I needed a replacement head anyway (as I need to deploy all my equipment), I headed to Amazon to see what was available. After seeing the reviews for this rainbird head (which is typically not available at the big box stores), I decided to give it a try. I installed it today, and BOY, what a difference! Definitely the cadillac of sprinkler heads. Two things stand apart: One, it dispurses water way more effectively than the other two (spray pattern is better). Two, the impact cadence (speed of rotation) is faster - both of which mean you're getting more water where you need it in a shorter period of time. When you have several sprinklers that you have to set up on timers so they're not on at the same time, that's important. I was so impressed I just ordered two more to replace the heads on my other sprinklers - I don't want to sound like a rainbird homer, but there's no comparison.

Great sprinkler
I have high water pressure and needed to get more volume so I got one of these. Very well made. Except they don't stand up to being ran over by a truck. My bad. So this is my second one. :D . I love the sturdy construction of the little return/radius setting gizmo. These have been the first thing to malfunction on my 1/2" impact sprinklers. I don't expect that with these! If you have adequate water pressure, they will need a stand with a wide base, for a lower set sprinkler, or a good tripod for higher set up.

3/4" sprinkler head gives more water volume than 1/2" equivalent model.
This model is designed for use with a 3/4" pipe thread rather than the typical 1/2" thread (as found in the Rainbird model 25). The Flow rate is about 1/3 more than the 1/2 inch version. The water spray pattern is controlled by adjusting a pointed screw that intersects the water spray. The maximum range of the water stream is the same as for the 1/2" model (water pressure determines maximum range). The spray pattern which is adjusted using the screw also controls the maximum range of the spray since a "wide" spray pattern results in a shorter maximum range. You need to use a 3/4" diameter pipe or larger to get maximum performance from this product. If you only have a 5/8" hose, you should use the model 25 Rainbird.
